Picktorial App Reviews
Just stumbled onto this gem of a graphics program that works non-destructively with RAW files, sports comprehensive and easy-to-use features and a modern interface, offers tutorials for some of its intricacies, supports camera profiles, provides snappy tech support and is available just now at an amazing price. A demo is available on their website. If you shoot in RAW, you’ll want to look at this!
calls Facebook first
The first network request from this app? Facebook.com Go figure
poor image support
Does not support mp4 files. what?
As costly as Adobe photo suite!
Unfortunately this developer uses the teaser-invite to download with 'in-app' purchases. The first screen that appears on startup is a come-on to 'upgrade' to 'pro' for $10 a month. No thanks. Disinstalling now.
Can't try out RAW features in demo; seems to be rental-only; crashy
If I excuse the multiple crashes that occurred while browsing the included Demo photos, at first glance it looks like this program has a chance to be a contender in the everlong search to find an Aperture replacement. But, alas, I can't properly evaluate it. It seems that when I try any RAW editing features, I get a popup that says "You can't use RAW features unless you buy it." Well, I don't know if I want to buy it because I want to evaluate the RAW editing features! But it doesn't matter, it seems like this is a rental-only (the App Store shows a $69.99 in-app purchase, but I don't see a way in the app or on the website to buy it outright). If I thought it made sense for an amateur photographer like me to rent photography software for $9.99/month, I would've already signed up for Lightroom.
CRASH
What good is an app that crashes every 30 seconds?????
Constant Crashes
How this is available on the app store is beyond me. It does nothing but launch, then crash.
Crashes on save
app crashed when I tried saving the photo
Can't Use
My system meets all the requirements and has sufficient space for this app. I can't get past adding a picture to edit. As soon as the photo is added, the app quits. Thinking it may have been my photo choice I have tried several different ones. But still nothing. Closes EVERY SINGLE TIME. Waste of a download....
Mac from 2012 required?
Need a mac after 2012 for a simple photo editor. What a bunch of crap. So i have an i7 that can crunch 1080p movies and effects in final cut and motion but not good enough for your softare? Guess i’ll keep my money and buy another package.
Software does not run on my Mac Pro
I read that for FujiFilm cameras this is the way to go. I purchased the software and I get an error when trying to run it. THere has not been an update in 3 Months!? I spent $65.00 for this software and it will not run.. How do I get a refund?
Wanted to use it.... Cost 60 bucks.
Crashes on start every time and I'v spent hours troubleshooting. Goodbye 65 bucks.
Having Terrible trouble
it keeps crashing and as far as I can tell, its not worth the trouble
App photo extension
I love this app, i had problems with the app few weeks ago, and acontact custumer services and they were able to help me and fix my problem. so I can continue enjoy this app , I hightly recommend this app , make my job much easier and my photos look amazing . Thank you
I would rate a “0” if I could.
Histogram has never worked. Developer says they know the problem. I cannot get a refund either through the Apple store or the developer. I’ve given them several months and no solution….
FUJI USER - HAVE USED MOST RAW PROCESSORS AND THIS IS THE BEST
I have been in the photo industry a long time. At the age of 74 I thought I had reached a point of not being impressed anymore. Welllll, I am impressed. Picktorial has proven to be one of the easiest, simpliest, and highly creative software I have used in years. The level of adjustments from universal for the whole image to local for the most minute parts of the image are extensive and accurate and easy to use. The colors are superb in my raw files for my Fuji X cameras and lenses and let me tell you that is hard to find in any software today. The brushes, gradients, healing capabilities are just outstanding and this is the only program I have found that allows local adjustments for everything you can do in universal adjustments. I love the ability to sharpen just specfic areas or apply noise reduction to other small areas like the sky if necessary. And to control luminosity and color and saturation just to specific regions is the best I have ever used. What have I used? Here is a list. Adobe Lightroom, On1 Photo Raw, Alien Skin x2 layers, Luminar (terrible) Aurora, Nik plug ins, Macphun Plugins, Affinity. I have worked with all of them and nothing compares. And for the price. Oh my goodness. You just cannot beat this.
"I like it. It works well." Originally posted "Does not plug into Photos effectively"
UPDATE 4/5/17 I received an email from Picktorial informing me they had solved the issues with the updated version 2.2. I installed the update. I edited a photo and it worked perfectly. I like the wide range of filters and they have more fine tuning tools than Photos. It’s a bit pricey for what you get, but I didn’t see anything better out there on the App store. I gave it a four because it really is “good.” I need to be “wowed" for a 5. I recommend it. Customer service is good as well. I contacted them regarding the initial issue, they promptly emailed back and told me the work around and that they were working on solving the bugs. When they solved the problem they notified me. That says quite a bit. I’d make it a 4.5 becaue of that. Well, now I’ve talked myself into a 5 because here’s a small company trying to make it in the jungle and I’m pulling for them. If you’re an amateur photographer who wants an easey way to increase your editing capability from Photos, this is it. If you want some cool filters, this is it. OLD REVIEW I’ve a brand new maxed out MacBook Pro. I bought this plug in for Photos hoping to expand editing capability. Picktorial does appear in the “More” sections of extensions, but closes out with an error everytime I attempt to edit a photo inside Photos with it. So, this app is critically buggy. Stay away until they problem solve these issues with an update.
Nice
I have probably underrated this app having not used it,to its full potential on my first day of usage. It appears to be an app for a quick adjustment. It does have some features that I like although, I would not trade the app over other popular Post processing tools as LightRoom, Luminar, Aurora HDR 2017, or Photoshop. If you are a beginner this certainly is an app which you will find beneficial. The app appears to be generic in nature but it has a good feel to it. Again, I would highly recommend this app if you are novice or a beginner. If you are just learning how to use photo editing tools, this app definitely would be a good beginning point. I look forward to seeing future updates and what the future may hold. It most definitely has great potential.
Update:It’s not stable at all
Hi I would like to update my previous negative review of the software because the software developer contacted me and helped me resolve all the previous mentioned issues. He went an extra mile making sure that the software is running on the same hardware configuration I have and on the same OS version, 10.9.5 that actually is not supported anymore since it is from macOS 10.10 and later. Impressed about the good work they are doing and now I’m looking forward to any new features they are planning WHILE using the current beta they released. Regards marco Hi I downloaded the latest beta on my macpro with D300 graphic card and the application won’t even start, just crashed. I payed for the beta and the original version could at least open it in preview and then on many images would go crazy showing just veritcal stripes. Not worth the money at all.
Surprised!
